About The Position

AdaptHealth is a provider of home medical equipment and related services intended to help patients receive care at home and in other care settings. The Medical Equipment Technician helps patients transition care safely by delivering, setting up, supporting, and maintaining respiratory and home medical equipment, while educating patients and caregivers on its safe use. The role is primarily field-based and involves daily patient home visits, with occasional on-call coverage in the assigned area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
• One year of healthcare technician, military service, delivery or field service with customer service interaction, or related experience preferred.
• Senior-level positions require two years of relevant experience, including one year in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain knowledge of home medical equipment products, services, and applicable regulations.
• Perform patient assessments and reassessments to support appropriate ongoing care.
• Educate patients and caregivers on the safe use, care, and troubleshooting of respiratory and home medical equipment.
• Respond to patient equipment issues, including under emergency conditions when required.
• Maintain home oxygen systems through scheduled patient visits.
• Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and infection control standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Deliver, set up, retrieve, clean, and maintain equipment in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and simple repairs, and report equipment hazards or incidents as required.
• Process orders and complete documentation accurately and promptly to support patient care and reimbursement.
• Maintain basic reimbursement knowledge to support proper billing for equipment and services.
• Promote company services and products to referral sources, as appropriate.
• Safely operate and maintain a company vehicle.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and comply with company policies and compliance program requirements.
• Complete required compliance training and participate in the on-call rotation as scheduled.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
