About The Position

The Medical Equipment and Systems Specialist is responsible for the coordination, verification and/or maintenance of equipment and related system installations. The Medical Equipment and Systems Specialist will execute tasks performed in compliance with study protocol, Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and/or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 1 year of related experience
  • Microsoft Suite
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and industry specific manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English/French for Canadian locations
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills are required.
  • Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
  • Capable of managing multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Must be self-directed, motivated, and have a willingness to take the initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment calibration per manufacturer instructions and/or SOP or set up calibration visits with vendors as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as per manufacturer instructions and/or SOP or set up preventative maintenance visits with vendors as needed.
  • Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of calibration records.
  • Provide equipment/systems related documentation to QA as requested for internal and/or external audits.
  • Ensure equipment vendors have appropriate certifications and verify qualifications with QA.
  • Work closely with all department heads to ensure all equipment needs and requests are fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Proactively pursue opportunities to cut costs, without compromising the quality of services.
  • Ensure backup parts/accessories are available for quick turnaround from time of request.
  • Work closely with finance department when determining service agreement terms.
  • Recognize and troubleshoot malfunctions to equipment.
  • Respond to outages or issues that can occur after hours when necessary.
  • Maintain a master inventory for all equipment.
  • Maintain a calibration and preventative maintenance calendar.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the proper use of equipment and related systems and perform training when necessary.
  • Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies.
  • If applicable, update eSource system with equipment numbers, calibration/preventative maintenance timeframes for use during clinical trials.
  • Assign equipment asset tags to newly inventoried equipment.
  • Maintain and advocate a high level of customer service and quality within the department.
  • Proactively communicate issues and problem resolutions to departmental supervisors and managers.
