About The Position

The Office of Education, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated person to oversee and manage the administrative and daily operations of the Office of Education in a very busy work environment. The Medical Education Program Manager is directly responsible for the oversight of the Internal Medicine Residency and Clerkship programs, and must also act as an advisor to 11 Internal Medicine Fellowship Programs. This person will be under the general supervision of the Vice-Chair of Education, with the primary goal of ensuring that all administrative requirements of the residency program and the clerkship are met.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience 2 of which are supervisory level experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the administrative personnel within the office, including work allocation, training, performance evaluation, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution
  • Manage the funding of the office: developing annual budgets, tracking, approving and monitoring budget expenditures, and providing reports as needed
  • Develop and implement systems and processes to maintain records for the office and ensure that all reporting to accrediting agencies is accomplished
  • Work with the faculty oversight committees of the educational programs to implement any required changes in the program, assisting in the development of processes to meet requirements
  • Plan and monitor workflow to accomplish the yearly needs of the office, using project management skills to provide leadership to the team
  • Lead the recruiting efforts of the residency program, organizing and attending recruiting events during the season (November through January), as well as ensuring the program meets all requirements for dealing with applicants and the match process, and independently prescreening the large number of applications received
  • Negotiate contracts with outside venues for recruiting events and other residency events, adhering to all university policies
  • Provide advice and oversight to 13 Internal Medicine fellowship programs, particularly with regard to accrediting agency requirements and rules, including UNM GME regulations
