About The Position

EMPACT- Suicide Prevention Center, a member agency of La Frontera Arizona, is an industry-leading non-profit organization dedicated to providing valued community services and resources for behavioral health counseling, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention since 1987. We are an EEO/AA Employer. The Medical Director supervises and provides clinical oversight to staff/contract practitioners, psychiatrists, and medical professionals. The Medical Director will review and evaluate the treatment procedures and outcomes of the prescribers to ensure they are in accordance with provision of services and/or agency requirements. They will ensure the quality of care given to our behavioral health clients is clinically appropriate and evidence based.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Marriage and family therapy, counseling, psychology, social work, or a directly related field.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a Psychiatrist, with experience in psychiatric emergency service, clinic, or mental health center.
  • Possession of valid Arizona License to practice Psychiatry.
  • Certified by AzBBHE with CMFT, CPC, or CISW credential or be an Arizona Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
  • The provider must be eligible to participate in the Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health care programs.
  • The provider must be eligible to be credentialed by the ADHS and Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA).
  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the day-to-day operations of the outpatient clinical programs. Ensure the productivity of the department and monitor individual staff performance to meet productivity standards
  • Responsible for the overall direction and management of outpatient clinical staff including selection, training and development, goal setting, evaluation, performance feedback, and ensuring a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Provide administrative and clinical supervision of Program Managers and indirect supervision to all departmental staff.
  • Development and implementation of policies and procedures for delivery of outpatient clinical programs according to the Arizona Practice Model.
  • Maintain quality assurance of department's service delivery including clinical care and documentation. Monitor and maintain all client records in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Participate in utilization review functions associated with department. Recommend changes that would improve service delivery and implement changes and new programming as directed
  • Monitor the reporting of services, establish evaluation guidelines, and ensure that programmatic contract requirements are met.
  • Provide community outreach. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all related state, community behavioral health, and contracting organizations. Identify potential opportunities for new business development.
  • Assists in grant preparation through direct writing and through work with the managers in the design of new programs. Assist the managers/clinical coordinators with the provision of program details and information to assist in the budget process.
  • Assist in the preparation of departmental budget and demonstrate a functional responsibility for administering and managing the approved departmental budget.
  • Work cooperatively with the Director of Finance to provide cost/benefit analysis of new programs, services, and contractual relationships with contracting organizations, and development of efficient operating systems, and information systems that meet the organization's billing, data processing, and research needs
  • Instruct and train volunteers, interns, contract staff and regular staff in their respective disciplines as assigned.
  • Negotiate contracts with providers of clinical, prevention and training services, including psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, trainers, other programs, and specialty services.
  • Participate in agency fund raising activities as requested by management.
  • Work as part of the agency executive team to further the organizational mission and goals.
  • Attend management and administrative meetings.
