About The Position

They provide comprehensive behavioral healthcare services, including psychiatry, addiction recovery, and mental disorder treatment, to help clients at all stages of recovery or rehabilitation reclaim health and well-being. Pyramid Healthcare is seeking an accomplished and compassionate Medical Director to provide executive clinical leadership across their behavioral health and substance use treatment programs. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced MD or DO who wants to combine leadership, strategy, and patient impact within a respected and growing healthcare organization. As Medical Director, the individual will oversee medical services, guide provider teams, strengthen quality outcomes, ensure regulatory excellence, and collaborate with operational leaders to elevate care delivery across residential, outpatient, inpatient, and community-based programs.

Requirements

  • MD or DO required
  • Active unrestricted medical license required
  • Candidate must hold or be willing to obtain medical licensure in North Carolina and/or Virginia
  • Strong executive presence, communication, and clinical judgment

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certified / Board Eligible in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related specialty
  • Leadership experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction treatment settings

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of all medical services
  • Ensure safe, compliant, evidence-based patient care
  • Supervise physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical staff
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategy, planning, and growth
  • Develop and improve medical policies, procedures, and standards
  • Support integrated care alongside behavioral health, nursing, and clinical teams
  • Lead quality assurance, documentation excellence, and performance improvement
  • Assist with provider recruitment, credentialing, and onboarding
  • Provide consultation for complex medical and psychiatric cases
  • Psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management (When Applicable)
  • Collaborate with Assertive Community Treatment Teams (ACTT) (When Applicable)
  • Supervise psychiatric APP providers (When Applicable)
  • Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary care meetings (When Applicable)
  • Serve as medical liaison with external agencies and payors (When Applicable)
