About The Position

Animal Kindness Veterinary Hospital in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a full-time Medical Director - Veterinarian to join their team. This clinic has a 30-year clientele and sees a high volume of new clients weekly. They offer services for small animals and exotics, have a dedicated team of licensed technicians and vet assistants, and are closed on Sundays. The clinic sees an average of 15-20 pets per DVM day, handles urgent care cases, and performs emergency surgery. They are committed to serving an underserved community and are bilingual-friendly. The Medical Director will serve as the clinical leader, setting the standard for medical quality, patient care, client experience, and team culture. This role involves hands-on clinical practice, mentoring associate doctors, and fostering a collaborative environment. The Medical Director will partner with the Practice Manager to oversee hospital operations, ensure exceptional outcomes, and achieve performance metrics.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required.
Active licensure without restrictions in state of practice.
Active DEA Registration for responsible practice location(s).
Any required state-controlled substance, pharmacy or other licenses and/or registrations as required.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a practicing Veterinarian.
Commit to a minimum of 35 hours per week.

Nice To Haves

Preferred minimum of 1 year of experience leading a veterinary team and/or multi-unit experience.

Responsibilities

Set, model, and uphold medical quality standards for the practice.
Foster and sustain a positive, collaborative hospital culture.
Coach, mentor, and manage veterinarians.
Drive continuous improvement in medical quality, patient outcomes, and client trust.
Evaluate, develop, and continuously improve clinical competency across the veterinary team.
Organize and lead regular doctor meetings.
Partner closely with the Practice Manager to align on hospital initiatives, culture, people development, and medical and operational priorities.
Align hospital scheduling and clinical workflows to optimize team utilization.
Assess and manage the hospital inventory.
Provide coaching and feedback to the veterinary team.
Plan and participate in hospital-wide meetings.
Support strategic initiatives and operational excellence.
Oversee the maintenance, and appropriate use of hospital medical equipment.
Actively engage with the local community to strengthen the hospital’s presence and impact.
Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to recruit, interview, and onboard high-quality veterinary talent.
Serve as the Responsible Veterinarian, including oversight of registrations, permits, controlled drug inventory, and radiation safety programs.
Actively practice a majority of their full-time schedule maintaining a robust patient caseload.
Serve as an Amerivet Ambassador, advocating for goals and values.
