About The Position

Riverside Medical Group is seeking a Full-Time Trauma/Acute Care Surgeon to lead our dynamic trauma, acute care surgery, and surgical critical care team at our trauma center in Newport News, Virginia. Riverside Regional Medical Center is a Level II trauma center and the regional hub for Riverside Health. This is a full-time role with 15.25 shifts per month, involving 12-hour primary in-house coverage or 12-hour back-up call coverage. The trauma and acute care surgery team consists of six full-time surgeons and five full-time APPs. The program participates in TQIP and TQIP collaboratives, and facility NSQIP is available. The role covers all trauma and emergency general surgery for the hospital and is part of the team model covering surgical critical care units. Surgery residents and experienced advanced practitioners assist with coverage in all service areas, including the intensive care units. There is a base compensation with additional incentive opportunities for production, finance, quality, and retention. A stipend is available for APP supervision. Additionally, there is an opportunity to perform elective surgery work during "off" weeks for extra compensation.

Requirements

  • Board certified in General Surgery.
  • Fellowship trained in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care.
  • Have, or be able to obtain, an unrestricted license to practice in Virginia.
  • Not subject to any restrictions, probationary terms or conditions on medical license.
  • No history of license to practice being revoked, restricted or suspended by any professional licensing agency in any state of jurisdiction.
  • Doctoral Degree MD/DO, Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Successful completion of residency or demonstrated experience in medical specialty.
  • Physician License (MD) - Virginia Board of Medicine.
  • Valid (unrestricted) DEA.

  • Progressive trauma center leadership and/or facility trauma survey involvement preferred.
