About The Position

Brown University Health has an exciting opportunity for a board-certified physiatrist to serve as medical director at our 28-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility in Newport, Rhode Island. Our growing academically oriented, systems-based, PM&R department is a four-time Guardian of Excellence Award Winner. The Department of PM&R includes multiple outpatient clinics, with a focus on neurorehabilitation, including concussion/TBI, spinal cord injury, and spasticity management. We also manage general rehabilitation patients with musculoskeletal needs, prosthetics and orthotics, wheelchair management, and oncological rehabilitation.

Requirements

  • Board certified or eligible in physiatry
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years’ experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the medical supervisor of inpatient rehabilitation services
  • Provide direct patient care
  • Partner with the Chief of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Senior Vice President of Brown University Health, and inpatient PM&R consult physicians to set goals and priorities for program development
  • Work primarily with Stroke, amputee, TBI, Spinal Cord, Multiple Trauma, Orthopedic patients
