About The Position

ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation focused on accelerating the delivery of new medicines and treatments to patients. They are seeking a Medical Director specializing in Neurology to join their global Medical Affairs team. This role involves driving medical initiatives, providing strategic direction, and offering expert medical and scientific guidance within project teams. As a Medical Director at ICON, you will lead medical affairs delivery across your portfolio, setting standards and developing your team. Key responsibilities include medical monitoring, providing strategic medical leadership and guidance on project teams, offering expert medical and scientific consultation throughout project lifecycles, ensuring compliance with ethical, legal, and regulatory standards, reviewing medical data, representing the Medical Affairs Department in business development and meetings, and providing operational oversight within the Medical Affairs Department as needed.

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in Neurology required.
• Board Certified in Neurology
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and ethical standards in clinical research.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the department effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to provide operational management in the absence of senior management.
• Willingness to travel as required (approximately 10%)
• Employment with ICON is contingent upon having the legal right to work in the country where the role is based.

Nice To Haves

• Proven track record of medical leadership and consultation within pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries or CRO space preferred.
• Experience working with phase II-III studies either in industry or as an investigator is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead medical affairs delivery across your portfolio, setting standards and developing your team.
• Medical Monitoring
• Providing strategic medical leadership and guidance on project teams.
• Offering expert medical and scientific consultation throughout project lifecycles.
• Ensuring compliance with ethical, legal, and regulatory standards in medical and safety monitoring activities.
• Reviewing medical data on the indication, inclusion / exclusion criteria and other medical issues to ensure our overall project deliverables are achieved
• Representing the Medical Affairs Department in business development initiatives, investigator meetings and project kick-off meetings.
• Providing operational oversight within the Medical Affairs Department as needed.
