About The Position

This role serves as the primary liaison between Providers and all levels of employees within the organization. The Medical Director will assist with developing, coordinating, and enforcing clinical and operational policies and procedures, educating clinical staff on their rationale and the need for adherence. They will also aid in implementing the Patient Centered Medical Home model, including improving clinical workflows and patient satisfaction, and will teach and support the integrated care delivery model. Key responsibilities include supervising, monitoring, auditing, and evaluating providers, assisting with medical staff recruitment and interviewing candidates, and participating in the management of PTO, coverage, and schedule changes. The Medical Director will also help develop and coordinate diagnosis-related practices and care guidelines, manage all relevant standing orders, and conduct regular one-on-one meetings with providers to review organizational objectives, performance measures, and professional growth. Collaboration with Health Center Practice Administrators and other departmental leadership is expected, as is leading regular medical staff meetings at their health center. The role involves assisting in maintaining clinical coverage when needed, providing onboarding, orientation, and mentoring to new providers, and meeting regularly with the Chief Clinical Officer and other leaders to improve clinical care and processes. Facilitating the implementation of new projects and initiatives, monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements, and working with the Chief Clinical Officer on strategies to monitor provider performance expectations (access, productivity/revenue) and strategize corrective actions are also crucial. The Medical Director will partner with other specialty medical directors for consistency across service lines, provide input on the budget process for clinical departments, and offer proactive guidance to encourage best practices and exemplary behaviors among clinicians. They will also work with the People Services team to address escalated patient or staff concerns regarding clinical care. Ultimately, this role is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all medical care provided at each health center and ensuring the quality of services rendered, while also working to strengthen provider engagement and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor, Doctor of Osteopathy or Advanced Practice Provider as appropriate for role
  • Three (3) years of clinical provider experience in a health care system with an excellent track record
  • Two years of experience working in a management capacity in a health care institution or agency strong preference for community health center/FQHC background
  • Proof of successful National Board completion or certification
  • Meets requirements of Medical Staff membership
  • Completion of an accredited United States residency program in: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or OB/GYN as appropriate for the role. Advanced Practice Provider with training in family medicine.
  • Current license in good standing (If not in AZ must obtain before start date)
  • Valid unrestricted DEA certificate
  • Certification to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation for the Health Care Professional (BLS) and AED through courses that follow the guidelines from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (cognitive and skills evaluations)
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations
  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical methods and techniques
  • Ability to meet and deal effectively with all levels of staff, patients, professionals, and community partners
  • Communicate effectively and diplomatically with patients and personnel, both orally and in writing
  • Basic computer efficiency
