About The Position
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai affiliated with New York City Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and New York City Health + Hospitals/Queens is seeking a full-time faculty as Director of Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine. The hospital is easily accessible by public transportation and car from all areas of New York City, New Jersey and Long Island.
Requirements
- MD/DO degree
- Board certified in Clinical Pathology or Combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
- Board certification in Blood Banking transfusion medicine would be a plus, with at least one year of training and/or experience in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine or American Board of Internal Medicine certification in Hematology with at least one year of training and/or experience in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine
- Valid New York State License and Medicaid number
- NY State CoQ in transfusion services and immunohematology
- Experience overseeing Clinical Pathology operations and regulatory compliance is a plus
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of Blood Bank operations at both Elmhurst and Queens hospitals.
- Ensure patient safety and quality of blood bank operations.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, including those of the AABB, New York State Department of Health, and College of American Pathologists.
- Supervise laboratory operations, policies and quality programs.
- Collaborate with hospital and laboratory leadership.
