The Medical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating medical and psychiatric services for adults with developmental disabilities, supporting them in achieving their personal outcomes. This role ensures the rights, health, safety, and personal outcomes of residents are supported. The coordinator manages the scheduling of all medical and psychiatric services, including routine, follow-up, and emergency care. This involves confirming appointments, arranging transportation, obtaining directions, and ensuring all necessary information and documentation are prepared for appointments. The role requires active listening to medical professionals, asking appropriate questions, and not interrupting. Daily review of the medical appointment calendar is necessary, along with proper documentation of treatment and communication with team members. The Medical Coordinator also maintains medication inventory, orders medications as needed, and manages paper or electronic filing systems. Operating electronic systems, coordinating information flow, and ensuring timely and compliant documentation are key aspects of the position. The role also includes performing other assigned duties.
