About The Position

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is hiring a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Coordinator to join our patient care team. In this key role, you’ll help ensure a smooth, welcoming clinical experience for patients and families—from check-in to check-out. The Medical Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for patients in the outpatient clinic setting, supporting clinic operations through patient scheduling, registration, and flow management. This role also involves hands-on assistance with preparing exam rooms, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and reviewing/updating patient information. The coordinator facilitates timely and clear communication between patients, providers, and the team, while maintaining MSK’s standards for cleanliness, safety, and infection control. They also serve as an advocate for patient comfort, access, and satisfaction throughout the care journey.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 year of relevant experience in a healthcare, customer service, or patient-facing role
  • Ability to work onsite in a clinical environment, including performing basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs
  • Compassionate, emotionally intelligent, and culturally sensitive; skilled in supporting acutely ill patients in high-stress situations.
  • Strong communicator with proven ability to collaborate across clinical and administrative teams; adaptable to changing environments.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; excels in managing time, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced settings; able to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and a positive demeanor.
  • Proficient in EMR systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and email platforms; quick to learn new systems.
  • Passionate about improving the patient experience and supporting high-quality clinical care through administrative excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for our patients in the outpatient clinic setting

  • Provide hands-on assistance with preparing exam rooms, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and reviewing/updating allergies/pharmacy/medication lists as needed
  • Facilitate timely and clear communication between patients, providers, and the team
  • Maintain MSK’s standards for cleanliness, safety, and infection control are met
  • Serve as an advocate for patient comfort, access, and satisfaction throughout the care journey
