About The Position

First Databank (FDB) is seeking a Medical Device Coder in the Quality department. The position researches information published by the FDA, device manufacturers, and other credible sources to generate unbiased, robust medical device content, with an emphasis on HCPCS coding for medical devices. The role is based out of the Carmel office and follows a hybrid work model, with an expectation to work onsite at least three days per week. The coder researches and assigns HCPCS codes, maintains the HCPCS library and related mapping tools, and checks the accuracy and currency of codes through audits, validations, and reviews. The position also updates codes as related classification categories change, evaluates medical device content and categorization, and contacts manufacturers when information is unclear or insufficient for coding. The role follows AHIMA ethical coding standards and official coding guidelines, and keeps current with coding and reimbursement reporting requirements. The position uses approved AI tools to support research, analysis, validation, audits, and workflow efficiency. AI-generated output must be checked against credible sources, official guidance, internal standards, and professional judgment, while complying with data privacy, security policies, ethical coding standards, and human oversight requirements.
