About The Position

At the direction of the Medical Director, the Medical Clinic Manager provides supervision, direction, and leadership to medical department support staff as well as oversees and supports day-to-day operations of the Medical department, including patient triage and nursing care.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or in a related field.
Registered Nurses license valid in California.
Current and valid CPR certification.
Five years of experience in the medical field with progressive responsibility.
Intermediate computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, email, and internet.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret program forms, grants, and documents.

Responsibilities

Supervises the medical staff in accordance with the Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic (SYTHC) organization’s policies, practice guidelines, and applicable laws.
Ensures and communicates policies and procedures concerning OSHA, CLIA, AAAHC, and all other staff and patient safety issues.
Ensures adequate staffing levels in the medical department.
Approves timesheets, time off requests, and vacation for supervised medical staff. Coordinates staff schedules in relation to patient care needs, in a timely and efficient manner.
Presents departmental and relevant information to the Director, Chief Officer and/or the Health Board, as needed.
Hires, trains, develops, empowers, coaches, counsels, conducts performance and salary reviews, resolves problems, provides open communication vehicles, disciplines, and recommends terminations as appropriate.
Supervises the running of medical services, soliciting input from the medical department staff and the front office staff, in order to ensure patient satisfaction and efficient clinic flow.
Orders and maintains the Medical department’s supply inventory and equipment in accordance with Medical Director’s annual budgeted allowance.
Maintains working knowledge of all programs that are provided by the Medical Department, such as CHDP/Patient Assistance Program, Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, Family PACT, Every Woman Counts, VFC, etc.
Works closely with the Medical Director and providers to conduct audits, maintain associated records, and monitor compliance with SYTHC policies, state, federal, and program guidelines.
Coordinates collection and reporting of performance data related to the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) using DART/NDW reporting software to the IHS data warehouse in Albuquerque, NM. Provides GPRA reporting updates to Medical Director and management team.
Participates in diabetic team meetings, maintains working knowledge of the diabetic grant funds, and oversees and provides support for all necessary reporting, including case management of Native American / Alaskan Native diabetic patients, CenCal patients, and CenCal Smart Program.
Supervises and participates in case management of diabetic and complex medical patients in conjunction with providers and the Community Services department.
Maintains overall understanding of NextGen as it relates to the medical department.
Communicates and coordinates with the NextGen support group on issues as they relate to the medical department and disseminates information to the medical department staff.
Participates in ongoing NextGen program updates and educates all staff as needed.
Participates as an active member of the Quality Improvement Committee, Safety Committee, and Diabetic Committee.
Participates in necessary team clinic meetings.
