The Los Angeles County Department of Homeless Services and Housing (HSH) consolidates the countywide response to homelessness, aiming to increase accountability and transparency, improve care for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and streamline collaboration with partners. The Homeless Prevention Unit (HPU) is a collaborative effort between HSH, California Policy Lab (CPL), and the Department of Mental Health (DMH). HPU proactively identifies individuals at high risk of homelessness using predictive analytics and provides flexible, early interventions to prevent housing loss. The unit is expanding to serve young adults aged 18-24 with proactive homelessness prevention resources. The HPU interacts significantly with various County departments to address challenges in navigating service systems and connecting individuals to services for housing stability. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about programs and services for young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness, and flexible to meet the evolving needs of the program and this population.
