About The Position

Eye Care Specialists is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our growing ophthalmology and optometry practice. The ideal candidate will be organized, accurate, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Previous medical billing experience is preferred
  • Ophthalmology or optometry billing experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, insurance claims, denials, and appeals
  • Familiarity with Medicare and commercial insurance plans
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Experience with electronic medical records and practice-management systems is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Submit accurate and timely insurance claims
  • Review claims for accuracy and proper coding
  • Follow up on unpaid, rejected, and denied claims
  • Investigate and resolve billing and payment discrepancies
  • Post insurance and patient payments
  • Work insurance accounts receivable and aging reports
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits when needed
  • Obtain prior authorizations and referrals as assigned
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and reimbursement
  • Answer patient questions and assist with billing concerns
  • Maintain accurate documentation and protect patient confidentiality
  • Collaborate with providers and staff to resolve coding and documentation issues
