About The Position

Under the direction of the Office Manager, Clinical Coordinator or designee and within the Medical Assistant Scope of practice, this role performs a variety of medical assisting duties both within and in support of the assigned Medical Office(s) within Southcoast Physicians Group. Under the supervision of primary care providers/nurses, and in collaboration with clinic team members and patients and families, the incumbent provides the highest quality of care and treatment for all patients. This role assists providers with patient care and procedures, facilitates efficient flow of patients through the clinic or medical office, and may be responsible for telephone communication with patients including communication of test results, surgery schedules, procedures and providing appropriate counsel and follow-up under the direction of a designated supervisor. The role utilizes an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and other related software to update and/or access patient information, as appropriate, while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in Medical Assistant track at a technical high school and status qualifies for cooperative program with evidence of specialized courses and training.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Completion of three (3) years of medical assistance program in technical school and eligibility criteria met for cooperative program is required.
  • Satisfactory enrollment criteria met for cooperative program at technology school is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or health-related computer software is preferred.

Responsibilities
