About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Assistant (MA) to join our street medicine/mobile health clinic team. Our mobile clinic brings critical care directly to unhoused individuals and others in need, providing essential healthcare services to underserved populations. As a key member of our primary care team, you will provide direct patient care and support our healthcare providers in delivering high-quality, patient-centered services.

Requirements

  • Drivers License required.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Familiarity/experience with client interaction on the telephone.
  • Knowledge of available basic community services.
  • Basic typing skills (such as 30 WPM).
  • Basic personal computer skills and comfort with Microsoft Windows® operating system.
  • EHR experience.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL preferred.
  • EPIC experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care and provider support as a member of the primary care team.
  • Facilitate coordinated planning of office visits via patient and team collaboration.
  • Perform initial rooming of patients during office visits, including medication reconciliation, risk factor review, and health maintenance review.
  • Provide provider support during office visits.
  • Review the plan of care with patients and assist with follow-up as needed.
  • Perform in-office testing and clinic services such as phlebotomy, EKG, hearing and vision testing.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms.
  • Maintain patient records.
  • Perform pre-visit chart scrubbing in EMR, including reviewing referrals, medications, immunizations, allergies, lab orders, health maintenance, and preventive care needs.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, vaccines, and foot exams.
  • Reconcile medications, immunizations, and allergies.
  • Room patients in person or remotely, including taking vitals, reviewing medical records, and reconciling health history.
  • Prepare, administer, and document medications and vaccines.
  • Assist with clinical procedures.
  • Review provider recommendations and after-visit summaries (AVS) with patients.
  • Communicate with patients regarding AVS, Q&A, and results.
  • Address patient encounters via electronic health records.
  • Conduct clinical services including EKG, pulse oximetry, hearing & vision testing, collecting and processing lab specimens, spirometry, and venipuncture.
  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate care with appropriate staff for appointments or tests with specialists.
  • Deliver patient care within HRSA services scope and approved locations, including patient homes and community-based sites, providing home-based care when necessary and adhering to defined services and safety protocols.
  • Maintain clinic cleanliness.
  • Manage supply ordering and room stocking.
  • Perform sterile instrument processing.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance routine tasks.
  • For Mobile Van Only: Handle front desk tasks including building charts, registration, check-in, paperwork, and insurance.
  • For Mobile Van Only: Provide harm reduction education, manage supply ordering, tracking, and distribution, and maintain communication with the DC HR team.
  • For Mobile Van Only: Perform HIV/Hep C testing, handle lab/specimen drop-off, and stock/maintain supplies across various clinic sites.
  • For Mobile Van Only: Coordinate ride setups.
  • For Mobile Van Only: Track, order, and organize comfort supplies.
  • For Mobile Van Only: Act as a liaison with community partners.
  • For Mobile Van Only: Transport the mobile clinic to scheduled sites safely and on time.
  • For Mobile Van Only: Ensure the vehicle has sufficient fuel levels.
  • For Mobile Van Only: Set up the electrical system, signs, and clinic reception area before clinic begins.
  • For Mobile Van Only: Complete vehicle logs including safety checks.
