About The Position

Serves as support personnel following regulations for the practice of Medical Assistants including assisting with patient admissions, patient procedures, care and maintenance of procedural instrumentation, discharging patients, chart preparation, medical records, medication administration, assisting providers and other personnel as needed, and other collateral duties. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration.
  • Candidates will complete some on-the-job training, but should already have the required skills, knowledge and work-related experience.
  • Fluency of the English language. Excellent oral and written comprehension and expression. Speech clarity and recognition. Active learning and listening. Ability to respond to common inquiries and provide information to patients and colleagues. Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use basic mathematical methods or formulas for business related calculations. Ability to calculate percentages and make estimates. Ability to compile, tabulate, or verify information or data.
  • Ability to think critically, problem solve, use judgement and make decisions. Ability to collect data and establish facts. Ability to use logic. Ability to analyze data or information and use deductive and inductive reasoning.
  • Accounting Applications, Charting Software, Document Management Software, Microsoft Office Suite, Email, Calendar and Scheduling Software, Medical Software, Internet, Data Entry, Inventory Management Applications
  • Active Medical Assistant Certification or Registration (within 60 days of hire)
  • Current Basic Life Support

Responsibilities

  • Assist nursing staff in patient admission performing duties such as: obtaining vitals signs, positioning patient, and medication administration.
  • Clean, decontaminate, and prepare instruments for sterile processing and sterilize instruments per manufacturer's directions for use and surgery center policies.
  • Assist in the operating room performing duties such as: opening sterile supplies, surgical skin prep, monitoring vital signs, and cleaning and disinfection of the operating room.
  • Assist nursing staff during patient recovery performing duties such as: obtaining vital signs, offering refreshments to patient, assisting patient to restroom, and escorting patient to responsible adult for discharge.
  • Perform preoperative and postoperative phone calls to patients and/or caregivers.
  • Participates in audits and studies to ensure quality care is being provided through assessment and performance improvement.
