About The Position

The Medical Assistant performs a wide variety of activities, including direct patient care and administrative and laboratory functions. Patient care may involve patients of all ages, in person and over the phone, and tasks involving assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. All patient care is provided under the direct supervision of a physician and/or mid-level provider. The role may also include reception duties, greeting and assisting patients and visitors, and helping complete the business side of a patient visit.

The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week. HSHS serves communities throughout Illinois and Wisconsin through hospitals, community-based health centers, and clinics. The organization emphasizes respect, care, competence, joy, continuous improvement, and a focus on patients.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is required; one or more years of Medical Assistant experience may be considered instead at the department's discretion.
• Medical Assistant certification or registration is required, or must be obtained within 90 days of the start date from one of the listed credentialing organizations.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 60 days of hire.

• One year of clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
