About The Position

New York Health (NYH) is seeking a Medical Assistant for its Urology team in Brooklyn, NY. The role supports patient care through intake, specimen collection and processing, vital-sign recording, examination preparation, equipment sterilization, clinical testing, and assistance to physicians and other staff. The position requires bilingual Russian and English skills. The schedule is five 8.5-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Requirements

• Medical Assistant Certificate.
• High school diploma.
• Bilingual in English and Russian.
• Knowledge of standard precautions and ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs.
• Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods, as well as stand, bend, and reach.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency with an EMR system is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient intakes and accurately record information.
• Collect and process laboratory specimens, including performing venipuncture and diagnostic tests.
• Record patients’ vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations.
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
• Assist providers and support staff with data entry.
• Assist physicians during visits with examinations and office procedures.
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
