About The Position

MainStreet Family Care is hiring a Medical Assistant for its Athens, Georgia location. The Medical Assistant supports on-site providers in delivering urgent care, primary care, telemedicine, and occupational medicine services. The role assists with patient intake, assessment, treatment, and discharge, and is responsible for helping ensure optimal delivery of medical care. This PRN position requires scheduling flexibility and may involve travel to other clinics as needed. Clinic hours are subject to change. The posting describes a rotating two-week schedule: Week 1—Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on; Wednesday and Thursday off. Week 2—Wednesday and Thursday on; Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Compensation begins at $15 per hour. Pre-employment background checks and drug screenings are required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Flexibility with scheduling for the PRN position.
Ability to travel to other clinics as needed.

Nice To Haves

Prior medical assisting experience or education.

Responsibilities

Assist providers in the care of patients to support optimal delivery of medical care.
Triage patients promptly according to clinic procedures.
Record patients’ vital signs, weight, and medical-history updates before each visit.
Perform laboratory tests in compliance with clinical guidelines and provider instructions.
Manage digital patient records and support the transition from paper records to electronic systems.
Prepare examination rooms for appointments, ensuring they are clean and ready.
Administer prescribed medications under provider supervision.
Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.
Position patients for X-rays according to provider instructions.
Help monitor and manage medical inventory as needed.
