About The Position
Under the direction of a Psychiatrist and in collaboration with the clinical team, the Medical Assistant supports psychiatric care by conducting intake interviews, collecting vital signs, administering medications and injections, and drawing blood for testing. This role is also responsible for accurately recording information of the people we serve (PWS) in medical records and ensuring continuity of care.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Minimum one year of experience in a clinical or medical office setting required.
Nice To Haves
- Certification as a Medical Assistant is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a community mental health center or behavioral health environment is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens and prepare them for laboratory testing.
- Conduct intake interviews to gather consumer medical histories.
- Measure and record vital signs, including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Document medical history, test results, and vital statistics in consumer medical records.
- Share relevant medical information with the treatment team to support integrated care.
- Coordinate medical care with clinical staff and psychiatrists.
- Foster a trauma-informed environment that promotes wellness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
