The Medical Assistant will adhere to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, follow all policies and procedures, and maintain training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care. This role performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings. The Medical Assistant will assist providers with or perform procedures as ordered, and handle lab-related duties including venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. They will also perform Point of Care testing (POCT) and complete CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing. Administering medications and vaccines safely is a key responsibility, along with other duties such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals. The role requires demonstrating effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation. Maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately, and ensuring equipment and supplies are in working order and areas are stocked are also essential. This position may assist with training and onboarding of other teammates and may serve as a role champion or on a committee. The Medical Assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding the principles of growth and development over the life span and possessing the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's age-specific needs.
