The LPN will prepare and room patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and documenting pertinent health information. They will perform laboratory procedures, assist physicians/providers with procedures and surgeries, and administer medications under physician/provider orders. The LPN will also initiate, maintain, and discontinue IV therapy with limitations, provide basic patient education, and follow through with necessary procedure or test requests. They will refer questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and communicate accurately and timely with physicians and other members of the health care team. Additionally, the LPN will perform advanced clinical tasks such as suture/staple removal, catheterization, and various laboratory procedures. They will be responsible for organizing and preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment. The role involves patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling. The LPN will also complete routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment and participate in patient-centered initiatives and quality improvement activities. This role requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding the principles of growth and development over the life span.
