About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician. The role supports patient care and clinical operations by obtaining and documenting patient information, preparing examination and treatment rooms, assisting physicians during procedures, performing routine clinical tasks, and maintaining office and patient records. The position is center-based in a clinical setting and involves potential exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens.

Requirements

Medical Assistant experience.
CPT I certification.
Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital-sign measurements, and intramuscular injections.
Ability to work well under pressure and respond quickly.
Neat and professional appearance.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant.
Ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, bend and stoop, use manual dexterity for clinical requirements, and lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Interview patients, measure vital signs including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record information in patient charts.
Prepare treatment and examination rooms, including preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
Drape and position patients, instruments, and equipment for examinations and treatments.
Hand instruments and materials to the doctor as directed and assist during minor office procedures.
Clean and sterilize instruments.
Inventory and order medical supplies and materials.
Give injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests.
Perform venipunctures, EKGs, vital-sign measurements, blood draws, and injections.
Enter data into the computer to maintain office and patient records.
Assist doctors with charting and perform chart auditing and CPT and ICD-9 review.
Handle prescription refills, faxing, and filing.
Follow standards of business conduct and compliance.
Communicate clearly and positively with customers and colleagues, contribute ideas and feedback, meet commitments, and complete goals with energy and focus.
