About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists physicians and patients with daily needs and responsibilities. The role supports efficient operation of the unit by preparing and maintaining examination rooms, assisting with patient care and procedures, and handling related administrative and office tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to type more than 35 words per minute.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Skills in budgeting, oral communication, written communication, technical communication, customer relations, customer service, diplomacy, organization, and project management.

Responsibilities

Oversee and ensure efficient turnover of examination rooms.
Maintain examination rooms in a neat and clean manner.
Respond to patient needs.
Escort patients from the waiting room to examination rooms.
Remove dressings and casts and provide patients with gowns as needed.
Ensure patient charts contain pertinent information and are placed in designated areas for physicians.
Alert physicians to patients’ allergies before examinations.
Assist physicians with injections, aspirations, castings, and other procedures as needed.
Monitor supply levels and replenish supplies as needed.
Instruct patients on information they need after leaving the office, including use of braces or crutches, medication usage, and home exercise programs.
Photocopy information given to patients and place copies in the appropriate charts.
Apply knowledge of sterile techniques and OSHA regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient unit operations, including answering phones, scheduling patients, entering information into computers, verifying insurance coverage, completing paperwork, collecting payments, assisting with marketing and sales activities, and helping with laundry and housekeeping tasks.
