About The Position
The Medical Assistant supports clinical and administrative tasks in the Mission Heart/Vascular department, including taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, updating patient records, and coordinating appointments. The role works under the supervision of physicians and nurses in a fast-paced environment to support patient care and smooth clinical operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience, required for new hires effective April 2014.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained current.
- Minimum one year of work experience in a public-contact job.
Nice To Haves
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Work experience in health care preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients, obtain vital signs, and prepare them for examinations and procedures.
- Assist providers with routine clinical procedures, treatments, and patient care needs.
- Administer medications and injections as permitted by certification and clinic policy.
- Update patient records, document clinical information, and maintain accurate medical histories.
- Coordinate prescription refills, lab results, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
