About The Position

The Medical Assistant is a key member of Fourth Street Clinic’s clinical care team, providing direct patient care and support across medical, behavioral health, and dental services. The role helps patients feel welcomed, supported, and informed while maintaining accurate records and assisting providers during examinations and procedures. The Medical Assistant also contributes to patient education and efficient clinic workflows. Fourth Street Clinic provides integrated, trauma-informed care to individuals experiencing homelessness in downtown Salt Lake City.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred, or willingness to obtain it.
• One or more years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Empathy and a patient-centered approach.
• Positive attitude and high energy.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with underserved or vulnerable populations.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Medical Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and check in patients, providing a friendly and supportive environment.
• Take vital signs and perform patient intake.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
• Update and maintain accurate medical records in the electronic health record system.
• Educate patients on health guidelines and self-care practices.
• Support smooth clinic operations through organization, multitasking, and communication with the healthcare team.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure quality patient care.
