About The Position

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. The position focuses on delivering patient care in a kind and caring manner. American Family Care provides urgent care, accessible primary care, and occupational medicine through clinics that operate on a walk-in basis seven days a week. The role may be at a company-owned or franchise location; franchise locations set their own employment policies, compensation, and benefits.

Requirements

• Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

• AMT registration.
• AAMA Certified Medical Assistant credential.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vital signs and medical history, record the reason for the visit, and prepare patients for physical exams.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to approved procedures.
• Draw blood and prepare laboratory specimens for reference-lab or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests, quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions.
• Respond to laboratory messages and callback requests.
• Perform drug-screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
• Document and administer patient immunizations according to approved procedures.
• Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
