Medical Assistant (MA) | Family Practice | Full Time

Sanford Health•Stevens Point, WI
•$19 - $30

About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) works within the administration’s predefined scope-of-practice guidelines for the state where they practice. In an ambulatory care setting, the MA collects subjective and objective health-status data from patients or caregivers and communicates that information to health care providers. Under provider direction, the MA contributes data to licensed health care professionals and follows through on patients’ plans of care. The MA communicates providers’ written care instructions by transmitting specifically defined information to patients or caregivers. The role supports patients across the lifespan through preventive care, health maintenance, treatment, and follow-up as they move between care settings. Duties are performed under the direct supervision of a person licensed to practice medicine and may include obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, observing and reporting signs or symptoms, and performing point-of-care testing. The position is in a fast-paced Family Practice department whose culture emphasizes teamwork, accountability, respect, and patient-centered care. Department highlights include opportunities to build long-term patient relationships, variety and ongoing learning, a strong team environment, and work-life balance compared with many inpatient roles.
