About The Position

UW Medicine Primary Care at Ballard is hiring a Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) to support patient care in a primary care clinic. The role includes rooming patients, assisting providers with exams and procedures, performing point-of-care testing, and helping coordinate communication between patients, families, and providers. The clinic provides primary and secondary care across age groups and emphasizes personalized, accessible care and continuous employee development. This is a regular, full-time position at 100% FTE (40 hours per week) with day-shift schedules. Applicants must have completed an accredited medical assistant course or equivalent, and must hold Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified status or obtain it within six months of hire. A valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support card is also required.

Requirements

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by CAAHEP, ABHES, or another recognized regional or national accreditation board, or equivalent.
Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified status, or obtain this designation within six months of hire; failure to achieve or maintain it will result in termination.
Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card.

Responsibilities

Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records.
Perform injections.
Prepare and clean exam rooms.
Submit medication prior authorizations.
Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report them to a provider.
Act as a liaison between patients, patients’ families, and providers.
Assist providers with procedures and medical exams.
Perform point-of-care testing and report abnormal laboratory values.
Assist in transporting patients as required.
