Medical Assistant - Family Services Clinic
About The Position
The Medical Assistant works in the Family Services Clinic at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. The role assists physicians with patient care and performs clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks, including appointment scheduling and chart management. The Medical Assistant provides patients with information to help them use and benefit from clinic services and conveys a positive image of the organization. The position requires phlebotomy experience. Duties include drawing a full lab schedule, performing quality control and CLIA inspections, spinning and packaging blood, and ordering laboratory and medical supplies. When able, the Medical Assistant assists with patient messages and refills, and is cross-trained to assist with injections and a separate clinical schedule. This is a full-time, day-shift position scheduled from 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience for new hires effective April 2014.
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting school.
- Medical Assistant certification.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintenance of current certification.
- Minimum one year of work experience in a public-contact job.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Work experience in health care is preferred.
