About The Position

The Medical Assistant prepares patients and assists the clinical provider with examinations by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical and social history, and chief complaints. The role performs clinical tasks within the scope of the medical assistant’s certification and under physician supervision. This is a full-time, on-site position at Virtua Health’s Hammonton location, working first shift for 40 hours per week.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Current Medical Assistant certification or registration.
BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

1–3 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining and documenting vital signs and chief complaints, and preparing patients and examination rooms for provider visits.
Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens for processing.
Administer vaccines and complete required documentation.
Perform diagnostic tests, including EKG and pulmonary function tests, as directed and under physician supervision.
Screen and direct patient calls according to established protocols.
Contact patients regarding prescriptions and test results as directed and under physician supervision.
Perform and document required daily regulatory testing to ensure clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
Maintain facility par levels of clinical supplies.
Perform front desk duties as directed, which may include patient registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.
