About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists providers in delivering quality patient care and promoting a culture of safety. The role greets and rooms patients, takes histories and vital signs, prepares patients for examinations, and assists providers with examinations, surgical procedures, and diagnostic testing. The Medical Assistant maintains an appropriate sterile environment and follows Washington State transmission-precaution standards, and administers injections as ordered by a provider.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent, or applicable coursework toward obtaining required Washington State Medical Assistant Certification.
Current Washington State Medical Assistant Certification.
Current national certification through AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or AMCA.
Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire.
Proficiency with medical terminology.
Ability to use the electronic medical record efficiently and follow appropriate data-entry and retrieval processes.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

National certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is strongly preferred.
One year of Medical Assistant experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

Greet and room patients according to standard procedures.
Take patient histories and vital signs.
Prepare patients for examinations.
Assist providers with examinations, surgical procedures, and diagnostic testing.
Maintain an appropriate sterile environment for clinical procedures and situations, following Washington State transmission-precaution standards.
Administer intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections according to provider orders.
Use the electronic medical record efficiently and follow appropriate processes for entering and retrieving data.
Communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
