About The Position

The Medical Assistant assists physicians and patients with daily needs and responsibilities. The role supports efficient clinic operations by preparing and maintaining examination rooms, helping physicians with procedures, ensuring patient information is available, and providing patients with instructions and information. Additional duties may support the efficient functioning of the unit.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Typing speed greater than 35 WPM.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Skills in budgeting, oral communication, written communication, technical communication, customer relations, customer service, diplomacy, organization, and project management.

Nice To Haves

Prior work-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee efficient turnover of examination rooms and keep them neat and clean.
Respond to patient needs and escort patients from the waiting room to examination rooms.
Remove dressings and casts, and provide patients with gowns as needed.
Ensure patient charts contain pertinent information and are placed in designated areas for physicians.
Alert physicians to patient allergies before examinations begin.
Assist physicians with injections, aspirations, castings, and other procedures as needed.
Monitor supply levels and replenish supplies as needed.
Instruct patients on information needed after leaving the office, including use of braces or crutches, medication usage, and home exercise programs.
Photocopy information given to patients and place copies in the appropriate charts.
Apply knowledge of sterile techniques and OSHA regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned, including answering phones, scheduling patients, entering computer information, verifying insurance coverage, completing paperwork, collecting payments, assisting with marketing and sales activities, and helping with laundry and housekeeping.
