About The Position

NYU Langone Health is hiring a Medical Assistant for S.D. Hassenfeld. The successful candidate assists physicians and nurses in providing patient care. Duties include supporting patients with comfort and basic needs, assisting with medical procedures and tests, maintaining patient flow, preparing rooms and equipment, and coordinating patient records, supplies, scheduling, and charges.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution, or a current medical assistant certification from a nationally recognized accredited institution upon hire.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

• Medical Assistant experience.
• EKG and/or spirometry experience.
• Mastery of a second language.

Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Assist patients and communicate with physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.
• Answer the telephone in the treatment area and assist staff with scheduling treatments.
• Clean and sterilize designated equipment after use.
• Assist physicians with procedures, including GI procedures and medical exams.
• Assist patients with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating, and maintaining comfort.
• Ensure completion of patient charges according to policy.
• Clean exam rooms and treatment areas after each patient and prepare them for the next patient; perform light housekeeping duties, including addressing spills.
• Stock exam and treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms; notify the Office Manager when supplies are low.
• Ensure the physician has the patient chart, including relevant lab work and test reports when indicated.
• Help maintain patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas; escort patients and specimens throughout the facility.
• Obtain vital signs, weights, and EKGs when needed, and perform other tests within the scope of the practice; assist with blood collection/phlebotomy as needed.
