About The Position

This position involves providing general medical care to patients in an outpatient clinic setting, working under the direct supervision of a licensed provider. The role is situated within a franchised business location, and it is noted that specific job duties and benefits may vary among different franchises. American Family Care (AFC) is recognized as one of the largest primary and urgent care providers in the U.S., offering walk-in services seven days a week. Their facilities specialize in the episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation cases, and occupational medicine. Each AFC center is equipped with an onsite laboratory and in-house x-ray capabilities.

Requirements

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
Maintain complete and accurate documentation
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
