About The Position

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is hiring a Medical Assistant to provide basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The role includes continued training across all aspects of the Medical Assistant position and direct patient care under a provider’s direction. The position requires travel between the Fairfield, Norwalk, and Wilton offices.

Requirements

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program, or an active Connecticut CNA, EMT, Paramedic, or Medic certification, or qualifying relevant experience.
• Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association, obtained within 90 days of hire or job transfer; required credentials must be maintained throughout employment.
• At least one year of direct patient care experience in an acute or ambulatory setting may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant experience or a Medical Assistant externship in a busy medical office.
• EPIC EMR experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a provider, including taking vital signs; allergy and medication reconciliation; screenings; patient history; health maintenance; advance directives; and virtual health.
• Provide indirect patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education, including scheduling, check-in and check-out, referrals, chart preparation, and prior authorizations.
• Conduct point-of-care testing, including quality control and documentation.
• Travel between the Fairfield, Norwalk, and Wilton offices.
