About The Position

The Corner Health Center is Michigan's first, largest and most comprehensive adolescent and young adult health center. The Corner serves youth and young adults ages 12 through 25 (and their children) and has over 40 years of experience providing care to individuals with complex needs. The Corner provides high quality, judgment-free, affordable health and wellness care and education. The Corner Health Center seeks a PRN Medical Assistant with experience in a community service and/or health care setting. This individual will work very closely with the clinic and patients. This is a contingent, "float" position, with weekly schedules varying up to 30 hours per week. This person will report directly to the Clinic Manager.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency and competency in taking vital signs, giving immunizations, performing blood draws, coordinating of patient flow, and other assignments as needed.
  • Proven ability to work with vulnerable populations.
  • High level of professionalism.

  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience/service in a community health/medical setting.
  • Able to work flexible hours.
  • All employees are required to be fully vaccinated and boosted against Covid and the flu yearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish speaker is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close the clinic, and prepare and restock exam rooms.
  • Room patients and obtain vital signs and other pertinent information.
  • Accurately perform essential lab duties including blood draw and in-house lab tests.
  • Administer medication and vaccines.
  • Assist clinicians during patient exams.
  • Documents accurately in electronic health record.
  • Maintain cleanliness of clinic. Disinfects exam rooms after patient visits, disinfects lab regularly, and ensures tidy and orderly clinic environment.
  • Maintain clinic inventory and report status and needs to the operations and facilities manager.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide quality care to patients.
  • Attend the clinic and staff meetings.
  • Commitment to the agency’s mission and DEI initiatives.
  • Provide services in accordance with the MDHHS CAHC Minimum Program Requirements and grant guidelines.
  • Perform front office duties including, but not limited to: Scheduling patients, answering phones and routing calls to appropriate staff. Greeting and registering all patients and ensure accuracy of all patient information and insurance eligibility Performing check out duties, including scheduling of next appointment and collecting fees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
