The Outpatient Endocrinology & Diabetes Clinic is now hiring for a driven and compassionate Medical Assistant for our full service, award winning clinics in Boise and Meridian! This MA position will support an NP and work with a wide range of patient population that need longer term care at our clinics located in Boise and Meridian. The Saint Alphonsus team of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Endocrinologist Physician, and Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialists provide the care, guidance and education to our patients that they need to manage endocrinology and diabetes disorders successfully. The team will provide ongoing support and an individualized treatment plan that is carefully tailored to the needs of our patients and their families.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Healthcare Association (CCMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC), National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA).
  • New Graduates: MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school.
  • New Graduates: Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.
  • Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
  • Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year.
  • EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct point of care testing
  • Complete prior authorizations
  • Task inbox
  • Answer and return patient calls
  • Oversee the patient assistance medication program including providing applications to qualifying patients, processing the applications and sending them to the pharmaceutical companies and then tracking the approved patients and receiving the medication refills samples.
  • Work with a fun team that really focuses on patient centered care and works closely as a team.
  • Get to know patients and help them be successful in their diabetes outcomes.
