About The Position

Franciscan Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to serve as the sole MA in the infusion area at the Lafayette East Campus. This role involves supporting approximately 20 infusion chairs, rooming patients, performing blood draws, and administering non-hazardous injections. The position offers a consistent day shift schedule (8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday) with observed holidays off, promoting work-life balance. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assisting program required.
  • In lieu of a program, 5 years of medical assistant experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association - within 90 days of hire.
  • One of the following certifications within 6 months of hire: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Performance Specialists (NPS).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the sole Medical Assistant in the infusion area.
  • Room patients and support approximately 20 infusion chairs.
  • Perform blood draws (phlebotomy).
  • Administer non-hazardous injections.
  • Provide a personal approach to direct patient care in outpatient settings.
  • Room patients, take vitals, and obtain comprehensive medical history.
  • Document patient care via electronic medical record.
  • Administer vaccines, injections, and medications.
  • Perform phlebotomy and point of care testing.
  • Conduct medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider.
  • Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide information via phone, electronic messaging, and in person.
  • Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations and referrals.
  • Process sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed.
