The Medical Assistant performs foundational clinical duties under direction while developing proficiency in clinic workflows, service line expectations, and electronic medical record (EMR) processes. This role focuses on accuracy, consistency, and safe patient care. The Medical Assistant will complete clinical intake requirements, administer immunizations, collect patient specimens, and utilize the EMR to complete assigned tasks. They will use standard medical/Psychiatric terminology and medication references, demonstrate attention to detail, and communicate effectively with patients, providers, and team members. The role involves accepting feedback, managing assigned tasks, identifying patient concerns, and escalating them appropriately. Interactions should be respectful and patient-centered. In psychiatric specialty clinics, the Medical Assistant will serve as a liaison with rural clinic staff, assist in troubleshooting pharmacy and scheduling concerns, ensure screening tools and paperwork are completed timely, administer long-acting injections, and support Variety Care’s accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home. They will also work towards the goals of the “Quintuple Aim” of healthcare reform and embody strong personal character, being an open and honest communicator with high moral and ethical conduct, integrity, adaptability, and sound judgment. The Medical Assistant is expected to be a result-oriented problem solver who is responsible and accountable.
