Medical Assistant (Gap year Opportunity for Pre-PA/Pre-Med)
About The Position
Riverchase Dermatology, an AQUA Dermatology portfolio practice, is southeast largest and most comprehensive full-service skin care provider, offering medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, plastic surgery, vein care and radiation oncology. We are currently seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a Full Time- Medical Assistants (Bilingual: Spanish/English) on a 1-year gap year opportunity, ideal for Pre-PA or Pre-Med students looking to gain valuable experience in the medical field before pursuing further education. As a Medical Assistant with Riverchase Dermatology, you will play a vital role in supporting our healthcare professionals in delivering exceptional patient care. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced medical professionals, gaining hands-on experience in various clinical settings.
Requirements
- Recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree or is about to graduate
- Students interested in pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Pre-Med
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to travel between locations
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a healthcare or dermatology setting is preferred but not required.
- Preferred Medical Assistant (MA) Certification, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) License, or LPN
- Hands-on experience in a clinical setting, Will train the right candidate
- Dermatology or surgical experience is preferred, not required
Responsibilities
- Assisting dermatologists with patient examinations, biopsies, and surgical procedures.
- Providing patient education on skin care routines, treatment plans, and post-procedure care.
- Assisting in performing dermatologic procedures such as wound care, suture removal, etc.
- Documenting patient medical histories, symptoms, and treatment plans accurately.
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness before each appointment and stocked with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Accurately complete pathology and laboratory requisitions as required
- Complete logs and send specimens to the laboratory
- Travel required to other locations throughout the week as needed
