About The Position
The Medical Assistant is part of a team delivering patient care in an ambulatory clinic, with an emphasis on disease prevention and health maintenance. The role works closely with clinical staff, front desk personnel, and related departments, and assists patients from pediatrics through geriatrics under the direction of physicians, mid-level providers, and nursing staff. The Medical Assistant performs assigned duties within their capabilities and scope of practice, follows directions, and works under close supervision. This is a full-time position at the Bishop clinic with varied day shifts. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification.
- Able to perform assigned duties within capabilities and scope of practice, follow directions, and work under close supervision.
- Compassionate, organized, an exceptional communicator, and a collaborative team player.
Nice To Haves
- Phlebotomy certificate.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
Responsibilities
- Anticipate clinicians’ needs and carry out orders.
- Check the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for patients’ arrival status and escort patients from the waiting area to exam rooms.
- Obtain, record, and report vital signs and other pertinent patient information to the RN, LVN, or clinician.
- Assist clinicians with procedures.
- Maintain and clean exam and treatment areas, specimen processing areas, and medical equipment.
- Instruct patients on preparations for lab, radiology, and other procedures or testing.
