About The Position

Corewell Health is offering a $3,000 sign-on bonus for this opportunity! This role is within the Pediatric Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine department, located at Helen Devos Children’s Care Center. This department serves as the primary location, with outreach services in Traverse City and Lansing. The department specializes in a broad range of treatments for respiratory conditions, from minor infections to chronic, complex, and rare disorders. A key highlight is the department's role as a nationally accredited cystic fibrosis care center and a Therapeutic Development Network Center, bringing cutting-edge research and therapies to the cystic fibrosis community. They also offer the only pediatric sleep program in West Michigan, flexible bronchoscopy for complex airway problems, a specialized breathing test for young children or those with special needs, a pediatric home ventilator clinic for technology-dependent children, and the only pediatric pulmonary function testing lab in West Michigan. The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a crucial role in supporting the provider team and clinic operations by rooming patients, facilitating patient flow, handling checkouts and scheduling follow-up appointments, administering vaccines, preparing charts, and performing administrative tasks. Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan, offering diverse care options and opportunities for learning and specialization.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training OR a minimum of one (1) year of experience working specifically in the role of a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 Days
  • One of the following Required within 120 Days: AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
