About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports medical and nursing staff in providing care and comfort to infant, toddler, preschool, school-age, adolescent, and young adult patients during outpatient clinic appointments. The role performs routine clinical and clerical tasks, including phlebotomy and assisting with the application and removal of casts.

Requirements

Basic Life Support (BLS).

Nice To Haves

One year of pediatric or ambulatory care experience.
Experience with EMR systems.
Spanish proficiency.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety protocols.

Responsibilities

Escort patients from waiting rooms to exam rooms, confirm date of birth, and ensure patients wear the proper attire for their visit.
At relevant sites, walk patients to radiology or POPs rooms or waiting areas, in addition to rooming patients for clinic.
Obtain patient vital signs, draw blood, and conduct basic medical histories, including chief complaint, medication history, social history, and family history.
Monitor and report patient condition throughout the visit.
Follow infection prevention protocols.
Conduct Telehealth intake tasks, including documenting vitals, medical history, and encounter details.
Escort patients to check out and update rooming status in Epic.
Monitor Epic DAR and communicate with relevant teams, including front desk, radiology, and POPs, to ensure timely rooming and patient handoffs.
Direct physicians and APPs to patient rooms based on Epic DAR status.
Prepare exam rooms daily and stock and maintain supplies and equipment.
Assist with the application and removal of casts.
