About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant performs clinical support procedures under the direct supervision of the Office Nurse or Physician. This role requires the individual to maintain a professional appearance and attitude, demonstrating cleanliness, neatness, and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly. A caring nature and genuine enjoyment of patients are essential personal qualities. Emotional stability is also required due to the nature of patient care. Discretion and confidentiality regarding practice, employee, and patient matters are paramount. Job responsibilities include performing blood draws, injections, child immunizations, lab tests, and other procedures within the scope of MA certification. The Medical Assistant will assist the physician during examinations by taking vital signs, maintaining clean and stocked exam rooms, handling patient phone calls as directed, and providing patient instructions as per the physician's guidance. They will also manage supply requisitions, assist with medical record maintenance (including referral forms and lab slips), and help patients prepare for and undergo exams and procedures. Assistance with nursing procedures and other areas as requested by management is also expected, always operating within MA certification guidelines. Teamwork and flexibility are crucial.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years current Medical Assistant experience [REQUIRED]

  • 1 Supervisory Signed Reference, from the past year of employment [REQUIRED]
  • Active American Heart Association BLS - [REQUIRED][DOCUMENT]

  • BLS (AHA)

Responsibilities

  • Performs blood draws, injections, child immunizations, lab tests and any other procedures that are pertinent to the practice and within scope of MA certification.
  • Assists physician in examinations, which may include taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
  • Keeps rooms cleaned and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Takes and returns patient phone calls as directed by Physician.
  • Gives instructions to patients as instructed by physician.
  • Requisitions supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock.
  • Assists with the maintenance of the medical record including completion of referral forms, lab slips, and other pertinent documentation as requested by the Physician.
  • Assists patients getting to and from exam rooms, preparing for exam, as requested, and during procedures.
  • Assists with any nursing procedure as directed by the Physician.
  • Assists the patients as needed, getting to and from the exam rooms, prep patients for exam and treatments
  • Assists in other areas as requested by Manager and/or Clinical Coordinator, operating within the guideline of MA certification.
  • Must work as a member of a team and be flexible.
