About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports cardiology care at North Alabama Shoals Hospital by performing basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection, monitoring and communicating changes in patients’ conditions, and documenting care. The role also maintains equipment, medical supplies, and examination areas, and performs assigned administrative or clerical duties such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration. The position is full-time, days, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

CCMA, CMA, or RMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
Document patient care provided.
Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
Maintain examination areas.
Perform assigned administrative or clerical duties, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
